Class Description

Most people don't want to think about death, much less prepare for it. But good preparation can make the experience of dying—and life before death—easier and more meaningful.

"Rest in Peace" deals primarily with the practical aspects of death preparations, including the need to honor every aspect of death and dying with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.

People of all ages and perspectives are welcome to attend this information-packed, resource-rich, and humor-spiced class, which will cover these topics and more:

  • The six essential documents everyone should have in relation to death.
  • How to protect yourself if you become unable to make your own financial or health decisions.
  • How to communicate with loved ones about preferences regarding long- term care, hospice, palliative care, and home-versus-hospital death.
  • Help for those facing the imminent death of a loved one.
  • What to do when death occurs.
  • How to arrange for the disposition of the body after death, including legal options for loved ones to handle this process on their own.
  • The cheapest and easiest ways to get your "death affairs" handled, so you don't get ripped off by lawyers or the funeral industry.
  • Information and resources related to grief and loss, home funerals, suicide, respecting and caring for aging parents, and much more.

Save money and avoid stress
by preparing for death in advance.

Special note: The class includes more than 50 handouts, so you can build your own packet of resource information based on your personal interests and needs.  Class participants will also receive a complimentary autographed copy of Dr. Cat's Helping Handbook: A Compassionate Guide for Being Human (retail $22.95).
